The inaugural Moto2 season welcomed packed grids and plenty of elbow-to-elbow racing. The exciting and challenging format attracted premier class riders and former World Champions, producing fireworks at every round. Ultimately, Moriwaki-mounted Toni Elias proved unbeatable, but only after a dramatic battle with Julian Simone and Andréa Iannone. Tragically, Japanese star Shoya Tomizawa, winner of the very first Moto2 race, lost his life during 2010. The sport honoured a fine rider in the best way – with an outstanding season of racing.
The struggle for the 125cc World Championship went right down to the wire, with Marc Marquez on his Derbi securing the title by a narrow margin from the hard-charging Nicolas Terol and Pol Espargaro. Britain’s Bradley Smith also had an outstanding season, snatching victory at the final race.
